The first week begins in Rome and ends in Livata, on the mountain belonging to the Simbruini mountain range within the municipality of Subiaco.
During these first 119 km, we will take a trip back in time to ancient Rome, crossing the Appia Antica Regional Nature Park, where we can admire the Circus Maximus, the Tomb of the Scipios, the tomb of Cecilia Metella, and much more. Amid ancient Roman ruins and wonderful panoramic views, we will arrive at the Alban Hills to admire the picturesque Lake Castel Gandolfo (first stage) and, with a small detour, savor the renowned porchetta d’Ariccia.
The tour of the Alban Hills continues along the paths that cross the Castelli Romani Regional Nature Park, passing through Rocca di Papa, Rocca Priora (second stage) and arriving at Palestrina (third stage). From here, the fourth stage begins, crossing the Valle delle Cannuccete Natural Monument before arriving at Guadagnolo, a historic Roman cliff where you can enjoy exciting climbs.
The last two stages of this first week pass through Subiaco, a town in Lazio that is the cradle of the Benedictine philosophy of “ora et labora” (pray and work), and end in Livata, a mountain resort located in the heart of the Monti Simbruini Regional Nature Park.
