The city of Palestrina is the star of Ferzan Ozpetek’s latest film, with its ancient temple dating back to the 2nd century BC dedicated to the goddess Fortuna, which dominates the city on the slopes of Mount Ginestro and also gives its name to the Turkish-born director’s latest film.
Today at 3 p.m., in the conference room of the National Archaeological Museum, the director will be awarded honorary citizenship with the following motivation: “For the artistic union that Ozpetek has created with Palestrina, and for the enhancement and visibility given to our city, on the occasion of the making of the film La Dea Fortuna.”
The museum itself, one of the most important in Italy, will be enriched for the occasion with a special piece: the statue of Fortuna created for the film set, inspired by the Tyche Fortuna of Corinth, which the director used during filming and has now decided to donate to the city.
