Painting a Path

We are now getting closer and closer to the opening of theCammino Naturale dei Parchi(Nature Trail of the Parks).

We are all excited, thrilled, and ready, a bit like when a baby is born into the family: there is joy and happiness, but also a lot of apprehension and attention.

Among the many things we are working on is the logo, which has finally been approved and which we are beginning to see on the arrows that will guide the gaze and steps of those who set out to discover the Trail. When I was asked to think about the logo, my mind and hand did not know exactly what to represent. Then we walked along the paths, I saw the emotions and I touched them. The right moment came, however, when, after hours of walking towards Città Reale, my colleague Erica Ercoli and I sat down at the foot of majestic oak trees and mountains.

We sat on the ground, submerged in leaves.

Then, in an instant, the wind picked up and the leaves completely surrounded us and danced around us. The only thing I could see were our smiles, the autumn-colored leaves all around us, and the outline of the mountain we had just walked on. Yes, walked with those feet that had now disappeared among the autumn leaves. Nature and our footsteps walking in the same direction, both on the Way.

This was what I was looking for, and this was the message. I can’t wait for everyone to experience these emotions and for everyone to be able to follow the Natural Path of the Parks, because you come back changed and enriched.

Hohn Muir (naturalist) said, “On every walk in nature, man receives far more than he seeks.” Today, after the walk, I can say that he was right.
