From steps to words, with a nice aside about an ancient craft and an exemplary woman!

Clear skies, a cool north wind, a large group of us made up of park staff and Civil Service volunteers set off from Campotosto village towards Amatrice; another smaller group remains in the village to promote the walk.

At the end of the day, we all meet up in Amatrice, each recounting our experiences and encounters.

The “boot group” expresses itself with bucolic words and eyes full of horizons.

The “human encounters group” is especially happy to have met a wonderful woman, Assunta Perilli, a resident of Campotosto, who with her tenacity and passion is “weaving” a beautiful story to read and encounter, if you have the desire, curiosity, and delicate desire to come this far.

A lady who has been weaving fabrics with ancient tools for years and who does so in one of the villages most affected by the 2016-2017 earthquakes in Amatrice, Norcia, and Campotosto.

An example of resilience, of the rebirth of skilled crafts, of the enhancement of local traditions that could recreate a vital local micro-economy.

This story greatly enriches the Amatrice-Campotosto stage of the Cammino Naturale dei Parchi (Natural Path of the Parks) trail. If you would like to learn more, please visit theBlog.
