Cineto Romano

The village of
Cineto Romano

The imposing and superb Orsini Castle, garnished with loopholes surmounted by Ghibelline merlons, dominates the whole valley and dominates the town of Cineto Romano.

Passing through a small square, you reach the imposing and rustic door that leads to the inner courtyard of the castle. Cineto Romano is a small town located on the short, ramified valley of the Ferrata stream.

The built-up area consists of the ancient part of the town, all perched around the Orsini Castle and a new and residential part.

Places of interest

It is interesting to visit the Pozzo delle Morge, an open-air excavation 50 meters deep and with a diameter of 3 meters, and the “Madonna del lago” tourist trail.

Roman Burials

In April 2011, two Roman “cappuccina” burials dating back to around the 1st century were discovered in Ferrata. Their recovery was carried out under the supervision of the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Lazio, the Guardia di Finanza, the municipal Civil Protection Agency, and volunteers.
