Monte Guadagnolo: the special gateway to the Apennines along the CNP

85 km on foot to reach the Apennine hinterland!

The Prenestini mountain range and the summit of Monte Guadagnolo are an ideal watershed.

You leave behind the excess of many things and enter into the scarcity of the same.

A door that deprives you, taking away much of what we think we cannot do without; and hinges that, when closing, creak with almost forgotten values that, entering through the amplified senses, will expand, enriching the traveler.

From tomorrow morning, less populated villages and hamlets, set in shorter, mountainous landscapes.

There will be the magnificent interlude of Subiaco, with its immense and fascinating history of paper and monasticism, but then Silence will increasingly take over.

Silence and the sounds of Nature that compose it.

Yet it is a Silence that worries many of us who are now accustomed to semi-artificial ecosystems where background noise accompanies us everywhere…

We are less and less educated in contemplation, observation, and appreciation of the little things.

But how many of these are contained in the Silence of Nature? A whole lot.

Which we miss every day!

And so Walking is an attempt to rediscover this pile of scattered secrets, step by step, for all those who desire and feel the need to rediscover them, among the leaves, branches, ridges, woods, flowers, shadows, elusive animals, and enchanting views of the peaks!

Happy searching and rediscovering, Claudia and Sara!
