From 7 to 13 May and from 4 to 11 June, together with the Va’ Sentiero team, we will set off again to discover the nature and villages of Lazio.
After the first expedition of about 120 km, from Rome to Monte Livata, which took place from 26 October to 1 November 2022, Parchilazio, in collaboration with Va’ Sentiero, invites you all to participate in the second and third expeditions along the Cammino Naturale dei Parchi (CNP) to discover and admire together the wonderful biodiversity of Lazio and the beauty of its villages. This “shared walk” is part of the broader and more ambitious project “I Sentieri della Natura – In cammino nelle aree protette del Lazio” (Nature Trails – Walking in the protected areas of Lazio), through which the Lazio Region promotes, enhances and promotes the regional trail network within its parks, reserves and natural monuments.
THE CNP
The Cammino Naturale dei Parchi (Natural Path of the Parks) is a 430 km trail that connects the cities of Rome and L’Aquila, winding through valleys and high altitudes of the central Apennines and crossing 42 villages between Lazio and Abruzzo.
It was conceived by a group of technicians and park rangers from the protected natural areas of the Lazio Region to facilitate, by promoting slow tourism, the discovery of inland areas, parks and nature reserves, the villages of the Apennines and the rich biodiversity that characterises these territories.
The route has been designed not only for experienced hikers, but for anyone who wants to enjoy an experience that is beneficial for the soul and body in contact with nature.
VA’ SENTIERO
Va’ Sentiero is a travel concept based on discovery, sharing and circularity. It was created by a group of young people who are passionate about hiking and strongly believe in interacting with the local area and involving people. They decided to give up their previous jobs to devote themselves entirely to this great project.
Between 2019 and 2021, the Va’ Sentiero team travelled and documented a 7,800 km route along the Sentiero Italia trail, in one of the longest expeditions in the world.
In these new expeditions, we will cross the Monti Simbruini Regional Park, the largest in Lazio, and the Montagne della Duchessa Nature Reserve in the Cicolano area, then push beyond the regional borders to reach L’Aquila, in Abruzzo.
Join us! Anyone can do it, and you don’t need to be an experienced hiker. You can participate in one or more stages, and registration is free. The important thing is to organise your own food, accommodation and transport.
