Among the dozens of entries received, the jury of the scientific committee of “The Most Beautiful Villages of the Mediterranean” announced today the ranking of the winning municipalities in this prestigious competition: Castel San Pietro Romano in first place, the Municipality of Arrone in second place, and Castiglione di Sicilia in third place. The “pearl of the Prenestini Mountains,” the “town of panoramas” and of “Bread, Love and Dreams,” thus climbs to the top of this special ranking, managing to prevail over the Umbrian and Sicilian municipalities.
The jury, made up of eminent figures from the international academic world, including professors and rectors from the Polytechnic Universities of Milan, Turin, Bari, Tokyo, and Qatar, chose to award Castel San Pietro Romano in particular for its work in enhancing and redeveloping the historic center, as illustrated in the report presented by Mayor Gianpaolo Nardi and the Councilor for Tourism, Dario Fiorentini. The preservation of the village with its natural stone elements and green areas, combined with important urban redevelopment projects, including the new playground in Via Vittorio Veneto and the Ponente amphitheater, were the winning factors in the evaluation.
